Ghodaghodi Lake- Nothing can be more beautiful
A lot of people visit Nepal every year to witness the magnificent beauty of nature in different forms. Nepal, as a country has become a popular destination for people especially from the west. Because of the huge currency difference among countries, people from the west started pouring in as they had monetary advantage over the currency of Nepal. It attracted a lot of tourist from all around the globe as well. As a result, end number of shops have also been set up to accommodate and manage the demands of all the tourists. Initially, people started pouring in because of the geographical location of the Everest base camp.
One of the famous places here in Far West Nepal is known as Ghodagadhi Lake. It is a famous Lake in the entire country. Although, there are few other Lakes as well but the size and diversity in terms of landscapes, makes Ghodagadhi Lake as the favorite one. Come, let us a take a look at the reasons why this Lake is a popular destination.

1-      First of all, the literal English translation of the name of the Lake means a male and a female horse. If the mythological story is to be believed, then this Lake demands a mystical stature as well. The reason being, it is believed that thousands of years ago, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati visited this Lake. As Lord Shiva is highly revered in Hindu mythology, the Lake is considered holy as well.

2-      Located within the Kailali district, the geographical position of the Lake is significant. The Lake is basically a rich wetland area located in the middle of far west Nepal. Because of its significance, the Lake has been termed as a protected area, and all the steps are taken by the concerned authorities to conserve the pristine nature of the Lake.

3-      In addition to this, the Lake is magical in its formation as well. It is made up of nine different Lakes and has an impressive landscape as well. It is mainly composed of several wetlands, swamps, reservoirs and marshlands. Because of this, the Lake looks like an enormous swamp and is breathtaking to watch.

4-      Because of such an exotic landscape, the Lake and the area around the Lake houses a variety of flora and fauna. Different types of animals have created their habitat around the landmass of the Lake and since it is biggest Lake of all, Ghodagadhi Lake witnesses’ different varieties of migratory birds as well. For any avid bird lover, this place is simply a paradise.

5-      Apart from geographical features, the Lake is seamlessly interesting because of the offering people make. There is a temple situated in the vicinity and every year during the time of Shivratri, many people visit the temple and offer animals made of clay to the deity inside the temple. The entire situation of the Lake is much more than a geographical landscape. It’s important as a tourist destination is unparalleled.
