If we talk about Nepal, how can ever ignore the longest river that flows through its deepest gorges while rubbing against its majestic mountain range. It is simply not possible. That is why we have Karnali River- the longest river in Nepal.

-      Like many other mighty and influential rivers, this humongous water body also originates from the mighty Himalayan mountain range. Karnali River rises near the Mount Kailash in Tibet. As it descends south, you simply cannot imagine the wild nature of this river. It gushes down the mountains with all its fury while offering excellent white water river sports. It is simply a paradise for rafters and a lot of people dream of kayaking on this river as well.

-      But, as it descends further, it does not retain the same furious nature. It settles down and upon reaching flat lands, it turns into a humongous and an extraordinarily broad stream. The kind of stream wherein you can directly row your boat amidst the presence of flat lands on one side and mountains on the other. During this part, it became peaceful and sorted offering excellent sightseeing spectacles.

-      As it flows down further and reaches the south of Tikapur, the Karnali River takes the shape of a tributary that comes out from another mighty river. Yes, it is all about one of the mightiest rivers of the world i.e. The Ganges. Flowing out as a great tributary, the Karnali River hosts one of the world most exquisite variety of dolphin which goes by the name of The Ganges river dolphin. Yes, the longest river in the Nepal has this accolade to its credit as well.

-      If you are lucky enough to visit the far west part of Nepal during the winters, you might just witness these dolphins for yourself. Because of the monsoon, the river swells up, and there is a higher probability of seeing a dolphin. Moreover, the chances are high because it is precisely this time of the year when dolphins migrate from one place to another. Karnali River as a water boy experiences different shades of life for itself and hosts exquisite creatures within this belly.

-      Being Nepal’s longest and largest river, the Karnali rises on the southern slopes of the Himalayan mountain range; as aforementioned, the white water river offers some excellent class 5 rapids for all the water enthusiasts to experience. Rafting and kayaking in this river are an experience of a lifetime.
